Automatic Dilution System

For Use With RubiChem's Line Of Rubber Anti-Tacks

BACKGROUND PROBLEM

Under typical manufacturing conditions the anti-tack concentrate is manually diluted. This human intensive method of dilution will often yield anti-tack dilutions of varying concentrations.

Anti-tack dilutions mixed below a company’s optimum use level can result in stock sticking to itself while in storage. Stuck stock has to be reprocessed increasing a company’s costs while decreasing their output.

Conversely, anti-tack dilutions mixed above a company’s target use level can result in processing problems. These problems can range from inaccurate Rheometer readings in the Quality Control Lab to slippery stock to blistering and mold fouling.

The automation of the anti-tack dilution process frees plant personnel for other duties as well as helps to eliminate many anti-tack related processing problems.

Utilizing Modern Technology

RubiChem anti-tack concentrate is supplied to the rubber compounder in either tote bins (slurry) or bulk bags (powder). A programmable logic controller (PLC) is programmed with the solids level set point and the physical parameters of the RubiChem product. The solids level set point determines when anti-tack concentrate is added to the process tank.

The level in the process tank is maintained by the RubiChem Dilution System’s PLC through the use of a level sensor. A water solenoid valve opens as soon as the PLC determines that the tank level has reached the preset low point. The valve remains open until the predetermined acceptable level in the tank is reached.

The active solids level of the process tank is continuously monitored by the RubiChem Dilution System’s PLC. If the low solids set point is reached slurry concentrate is fed into the process tank until the solids level reaches the predetermined acceptable level.

Once installed, the active solids level presents programmed into the RubiChem Dilution System’s PLC can be easily adjusted by using the PLC’s keypad.

Utilization of RubiChem’s Dilution Station insures that the desired active solids level in the process tank remains consistent.
